Eage goes to Lapan, Parepare

Pare Pare, February 12, 2014 remote sensing technology and data center welcome a visit of EAGE UNHAS SC in the study tour about geographic information and remote sensing system. The "EAGE Goes To LAPAN" is a program that aims to broaden the students in terms of geographic information processing, especially in parts of remote sensing.

Speech and exposure to the material carried by the staff who work in the field. The material provided in the form of basic explanations of how the data received by the station to then be processed and utilized.

The Remote Sensing Satellite Imagery Data is generally accepted and recorded three stations Besides South Sulawesi Pare Pare Earth Station also contained Earth Station Earth Station Rumpin Jakarta and West Java thus for the Ministry / agencies and the Department can obtain high resolution data with the specified requirements have been set.

Exposure of the material discussed on the provision of satellite remote sensing data of high resolution with the Indonesian government license; increased capacity and operating system data acquisition of high-resolution satellite remote sensing; implementation of the provision of satellite remote sensing data of high resolution in accordance with the provisions of legislation, etc. Earth station sytstem which owned by LAPAN has been in operation for receiving various types of satellite remote sensing image data, one of which is a Landsat satellite image data-8 which is a continuation of the Landsat satellite series before. In the Landsat-8 operating system, mission data (raw image data) is transmitted from the satellite to the earth station is incorporated in the International Ground Station (IGS). The whole earth stations participating in the IGS can receive, process, and archive mission data were successfully acquired. In addition, the earth station must be certified by the USGS (US Geological Survey). LAPAN has participated as one part of the IGS, where both earth stations systems located in Pare Pare (South Sulawesi), and Rumpin (West Java) has been registered in the IGS network with the code DKI (Pare Pare) and RPI (Rumpin).

There is a direct receiving for getting data in the near realtime by using data from satellite. LAPAN’s Earth Station currently tracking, acquisition, and satellite remote sensing data

recording. To obtain remote sensing data that is capable of covering the entire territory of Indonesia, needed a location that can cover the entire territory of Indonesia. In addition LAPAN earth station can transmit data quickly to the data center or data bank that is in the Remote Sensing Technology and Data Center.

Satellite remote sensing image data of high resolution have been obtained are distributed to government agencies, ministries / institutions that demand high resolution data set requirements and regulations.
